About the Artist

Karolina is a German artist born in Kyrgyzstan to a family of Soviet Germans whose roots stretch across Central Asia and Eastern Europe. Growing up between cultures, languages, and histories has profoundly shaped her perspective and creative voice. Now based in Los Angeles, she draws inspiration from the complexities of identity, human connection, memory, and the experiences that shape who we become. Her work reflects a fascination with both the individual story and the shared emotions that connect people across different backgrounds and walks of life.

Working primarily in large scale figurative realism, Karolina explores themes of love, longing, vulnerability, movement, and transformation. The female form is a recurring subject in her work, serving as both a symbol of strength and a vessel for emotional storytelling. Influenced by classical portraiture and contemporary culture, she creates paintings that balance technical precision with atmosphere and feeling, seeking to capture not only a likeness but the emotions, memories, and experiences that exist beneath the surface.
